Two Tailors, Same Skill, Different Prices. Here Is Why.
Put two tailors in the same market. Same training. Same eye for a clean line. One of them can barely keep up with orders, charging what she wants. The other is doing beautiful work for half the price, waiting on clients who show up late and pay later.
Ask around and everyone will tell you the first one is "just better." She is not. You see, skill was never the thing that separated them.
The one commanding the higher price is easier to reach. She replies fast. She tells you exactly when your piece will be ready, and it is ready then. She sends an invoice instead of a WhatsApp voice note with a number in it. None of that is craft. All of it is business.
This is the part nobody tells you when you are learning to cut and sew: the skill gets you in the room. It does not decide what you are paid once you are in it.
Clients cannot always judge a stitch. They can always judge whether you showed up on time, whether the price was clear from the start, whether they had to chase you for anything. Those are the differentiators that actually move the needle, and they have nothing to do with the needle itself.
If you want to know what separates you from the tailor next door, do not start with your cut. Start with everything around it: how a client finds you, how they book you, how they know what they owe and when it is due, how they hear from you again after the first order. That is where the real difference is made, and it is also the part you actually control.
